Catching up...
So, uhm...where are people at these days? I've considered trying to put together a list of players and where they can be found, because I know a lot of people lost touch with each other when HPM went down. Any thoughts on this?

My apologies on my last post. I understand I may have sounded a bit rude at the time, but I was very, very curious as to what had happened.

I truly wish I had known all these problems were going on with the MUSH. If I knew then what I knew now, I certainly would have been happy to assist the staff in bringing a more orderly, Harry Potter-esque setting to the game. While I can't admit to ever having been a Slythie-hunter as my characters (Ethel wanted Sirius Black dead, not Slytherin; Gwynne only wanted the best for Hogwarts), I do have to admit that some of Ethel's actions were a bit limelight-seeking. While I most certainly did not want a popular hero character, I certainly did not want to be a girl in the background. But, Harry Potter is titled Harry Potter, and the main character are Harry, Ron and Hermione. If I had only realised what I was doing, perhaps I would have stopped ...

But sigh. That is in the past.

I will be leaving this community. Why? Because I feel I must in some strange way. It's been grand. :)

Fate of this community?
Well, the HPM community is tied to my LiveJournal account, eating one of the various invite codes I have. HOWEVER...

...I'm not going to delete it, unless FS or Haggis ask for it to be deleted (for peace-of-mind, or to have closure). I had fun on HPM, and I enjoyed playing with you folks. Even with the game gone, it's nice to have a place leftover for people to still chat every now and then, y'know? I'd hope that friendships formed on the game can last beyond its closing...

Nobody else seems to be mentioning anything, but what happened to the MUSH? According to an email sent to Melony/Parvati (which she is, apparently, not at liberty to show me) the MUSH is closed down permanently. Too many things were going wrong.

Someone please shed some light? I think we players have a right to know.

Neat toy

This 'graph' toy doesn't work for anyone with more than about 20-25 friends, but for HPM it graphs our little community cutely, so you can see who links to each other and how we all interconnect around the HPM community. Yes, I /am/ bored at work, why do you ask?

Idle poll...
So, likely in part due to the end of the holiday season and people getting back to work, things have tapered off a little bit on HPM. Obviously, this won't do. :)

I've started spurring the Slytherin to more active reprisals to stir up RP a bit, but prompted by CP's recent plot posting, I had a question to ask of the other HPM players. If someone is going to run a plot, what SORT of things would make you really want to come and play actively in it? The reason I ask is that I want to get an idea of what people really would love to see in a plot, and then try to write up a plot proposal to submit to FS and Haggis. So... input?

Besides which, it's been a little while since there was any major discussion in this journal. ;)

Everyone else seems to have done it, so I gave it a shot! Here is the report for Magpie. I tried to fool it by doing it again with her nickname Maggie, but it gave me the same result, which isn't really what I pictured for her character, but she's new so maybe I can have her grow into her name. Just for fun, I tried it with my real name too.

Your name of Magpie gives you a clever mind, good business judgment, a sense of responsibility, and an appreciation of the finer things of life. You are serious-minded and not inclined to make light of things even in little ways, and in your younger years you had more mature interests than others your age. Home and family mean a great deal to you and it is natural that you should desire the security of a peaceful, settled home environment where you can enjoy the companionship of family and friends. Whatever you set out to accomplish you do your very best to complete in accordance with what you consider to be right. In the home you assume your responsibilities capably, having the self-confidence to form your own opinions and make your own decisions. Others can rely on you; once you have given your word you will do your utmost to fulfil a responsibility. However, there is a tendency to be a little too independent in your thinking and it is difficult for you to accept the help of others when you should. Due to your strong sense of responsibility, you could experience worry and mental turmoil through assuming more responsibility than you should. Friction could arise through others feeling that you were interfering with their rights and privileges, even though you are only trying to help.

Your first name of Ellen has made you a friendly, approachable, and generous person. Generally you are good-natured, though at times you can be blunt and sarcastic. As you are naturally talkative, you find it easy to meet and make friends with many people. This name inclines you to be sympathetic and generous to those in difficult or unfortunate circumstances. You can be firm, positive, and independent in your own ideas and in reaching your own decisions, yet when it comes to taking action or following things through to completion, you often need encouragement. You respond quickly to kind words or any appreciation shown you. There are artistic, creative abilities in this name that you could express through music or singing, or, in a practical way, through sewing or interior decorating. You enjoy freedom from monotony and are stimulated by unexpected opportunities for meeting people, entertaining, or pursuing activities of a carefree nature. In your work, you find it difficult to be neat and orderly. You rarely plan things ahead of time, or follow a routine. Emotion and feeling, the desire to be carefree, friendly, and happy, are the driving forces in your being, rather than shrewdness, ambition, and material success. You could experience headaches, or problems with your teeth, ears, eyes, or sinuses. Health weaknesses relative to the functioning of the liver could appear.

Hmm. Possible liver problems - that's not good. How can they get that from a name?

Hi, everybody! Just found this place and through a friend of a friend, managed to get a code. Anyway, I play Magpie (or Maggie, as she's called) and just started at HPM a few days ago. I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

I found this place. I'm the player of Gwynne and Ethel. I at one point played Nimue/Mercy but she's no longer in the MUSH (due to reasons I'd rather not discuss).

And ... yeah. Hi. ^.^

Ok, trying again with a Sirius picture. Frankly, I can't do realism, so I've gone back to what's tried and true for me. Tell me what you think.

Ok, picture info. We all know Sirius is a black dog, but I figured, screw it. Couldn't find any good black dog pictures, anyway. So, instead I'm using the most fabulous dog in the world, the Maremmano. Scarily smart. Think Jurassic Park, where people are hiding in some room, and the door handle sloooooowly opens. Raptors, right? No. That's what this dog does. ;)

One More Monkey in the Barrel
Well, I've succumbed to peer pressure, and joined the community as well. To start, I'll ditto and post the Kabablablabla information for Sirius. Not bad, if I do say so myself. ;)

Your name of Sirius has made you versatile and creative. There is hardly anything you cannot do if you put your mind to it, but a driving urge leads you to one experience after another, seldom finishing what you start. You cannot find peace of mind or lasting contentment in anything you do. As soon as a challenge is met, boredom sets in, and you yearn for another experience. This restlessness makes it difficult for you to assume responsibility and to establish stable, progressive conditions in your life. You could do well in sales work or in meeting the public where quickness of mind and expression are all important. You have many friends, but lose interest in people very quickly. Your intense mental activity spoils system and concentration, and plays havoc with relaxation and sleep. Out of your quick thinking has been borne hasty speech. Acting on impulse instead of with forethought has led to many disappointments and bitter experiences. Your whole nervous system could be affected by the intense emotional influence of this name.

Right, I expect confetti and champagne to celebrate my arrival, and I'll be back to post again later. ;)

Some of you have seen this...
Beautiful HP Fan Art to be found here:

Just click on links like crazy, because it's all in Japanese. They're all worth looking at, and they're beautiful. I'm such a girl.

This is one of my favorites, just because it's soooo cute and the expressions on the faces of the trio up in the top right corner of the picture are priceless!

Actually, I found that Kabbalic one a while ago, way way back. *g* It was eerily accurate for both Hermione, and for my RL name.

The name of Hermione gives you a responsible, reserved, and dignified nature, able to find a certain amount of success in anything you undertake. You have an appreciation for the finer and deeper aspects of life. Your scholarly, studious interests incline you to art, literature, philosophy, music, and drama. You wonder about the deeper aspects of life contained in religious theories and occult beliefs. Others may consider you to be aloof and unemotional since you often find it difficult to express spontaneously. They could interpret your quietness as disinterest and aloofness, for they do not realize the depth of your feelings and thoughts. You require time alone, especially in the outdoors, to cope with the pressures of life. This name causes tension to affect your heart and respiratory organs, resulting in colds or bronchial conditions.

HP Quiz!

Most people have probably already seen this in one of our various journals, but hey...never hurts to post it for here.

I got Hermione, which is probably totally unsurprising to anyone who knows me offline/iRL, and probably quite disturbing to anyone who only knows me as playing Draco... ;)
